Please make sure you are on the latest version of the RAUpdate.exe update program. You can download the latest version here. Save the program on your RedAnt shared drive in the install folder. Open up 'My Computer' and it will normally be the R drive and then either the Install, RedAntInstall or WPCSInstall folder. It will ask you to overwrite the existing program which you must answer OK. This is also a check to make sure you are saving it in the correct folder. If the overwrite option does not appear then you have the wrong folderPlease make sure you have closed the RAUpdate program before downloading the new version.
Symptom / Error Solution
1. File 'In Use' or 'Locked' when you select 'Download Updates'
Make sure workstations are not running a copy of the RedAnt or DataCollection program. Pay particular attention to the taskbar. If so exit program(s) and try again. The error message will specify whether it is a RedAnt or DataCollection program which is causing the problem.
If the error still appears then the only option open to you is to reboot the server or master computer running RedAnt. You will probably need to reboot the workstations as well.
2. When you load RedAnt a message appears which says the program version disagrees with the database version.
Firstly check the program version is the same as on the latest release shown in the history file. The program version is on the main sign in screen when you load RedAnt. To view the history file click here. If you don't have the latest version then run RAUpdate.exe again. You will need to do this from the shortcut on your desktop or within RedAnt itself under Help off the main menu.
If the program version is the latest then the SQL script to update the data files did not run correctly. To remedy this then run RAUpdate.exe from your desktop. From the top menu select 'Run SQL Script'. From the list available select the last one shown. Select the appropriate company from the drop down list and then select 'Run'. A DOS window will open and several lines of text will appear. Wait for the window to close before proceeding any further. If a DOS window does not appear then check you have a connection to the database server. To do this select 'Test SQL Connection ' from the top window. A DOS window will appear with a 1> and a flashing cursor. Type 'Exit' followed by the enter key to close it. If the DOS window does not appear then you don't have a connection and you will have to phone technical support on 0844 357 3760 for further assistance.
3. When running the update program from within RedAnt it says 'You are already on the latest Release'. Check the current version from the RedAnt Sign On Screen against the latest version on the update history page. Click here to view the history page. If the versions are different then run RAUpdate.exe from your desktop and not from within the RedAnt system. This bypasses the version checking.
4. When running the update program it reports there are existing users in RedAnt and then closes See solution 1 above.
